About – Viviane Elisabeth Borg

Mum the Author

Viviane Elisabeth Borg (née Fleri) was born British of Maltese descent in 1925 in Alexandria, Egypt. She had an Italian upbringing and received a French education. Being a great lover of poetry and literature, she aspired at becoming a writer, but her studies were interrupted as World War II erupted over Europe. Following the Suez Crisis of 1956, she and her family moved to London, England.

In 1997 she wrote and self-published a memoir entitled When the Wind Blows, which she dedicated to her husband who had died of bowel cancer in 1989. All proceeds from the sale of the book were donated to cancer research.

In 2012, she and her son, Robert L J Borg, jointly self-published a poetry anthology entitled Poetic Whispers.

A Tangled Web was previously published in 2014 by Sweet Cravings Publishing, was re-published by Luminosity Publishing, in August 2016.

Viviane had been residing at Golfe-Juan in the south of France from 2004 until August 2023 when she passed away at the age of 98.

  1. Hi there,

My name is Oriane and my grand-father and I just discovered Viviane’s poetry on Alexandria. My grand-dad is also an author and would love to use part of ‘Nostalgie du Passé’ in his last novel. Do you know how to contact Viviane and if she would be willing to authorise him to do so?

    Thanks a lot in advance,

Jean and Oriane from Chambord, France

    • Dear Oriane,

I will speak to my mother, Viviane and will email you her decision.

      Regards

      Robert Borg

    • Hi Oriane,
I’m sorry I haven’t got back to you on your request sooner. I have spoken with my mother about this and she is delighted to allow her poem to be used on condition that your grandfather acknowledges her as the author of the poem and respects her copyright.

Please let us have details of his novel so we might obtain a copy.

      Regards

      Robert
